About
Mike Morphey, PE, LEED AP
Mike is a licensed professional engineer in Michigan, Indiana, Florida, and New York, with over twenty-three years of experience in consulting engineering. For the past 15 years, his work has focused on marina, coastal, and waterfront projects. His early career included a wide array of consulting, from parks to transportation, and site development to industrial and streetscape projects. Mike has provided study/planning, design, regulatory, construction administration, and expert witness services on projects throughout all five Great Lakes and beyond. His projects have included dredging, marinas, coastal protection, beach nourishment, planning, and related work.
In 2013, Mike led the St. Joseph Coastal Engineering Study, which resulted in the establishment of the first local coastal setback in the State of Michigan. Since that time, record changes in water levels have provided him the opportunity to lead several projects at both extremes—ranging from statewide emergency dredging efforts during low-water conditions to more than fifty coastal engineering projects during periods of record-high water levels. Mike is Vice President of the Great Lakes Coalition and Chair of the Coastal Resilience Committee. In these roles, he consults frequently with Michigan State Representatives and Senators regarding the issues facing the Great Lakes shorelines.
Mike’s marina consulting experience spans small boutique marinas to large facilities with over one thousand slips. His work includes both seasonal freshwater marinas in northern climates and year-round marinas found in warmer regions. He regularly consults on projects from a feasibility and concept development phase through design, bidding, implementation, and construction administration. Beyond the office, Mike is a devoted husband, a proud father of three growing boys, and an avid lifelong fisherman.
